Conclusion
There was a correlation between plasma homocysteine level and
myocardial perfusion indices for patients with scintigraphically
proven CAD but not in those patients without disease. We also
confirmed that homocysteine level may be an independent risk
factor for the presence of CAD, marking the extent of established
disease and a higher number of known risk factors. These
findings may help to explain why lowering high homocysteine
levels is clinically ineffective.
